40th Anniversary Celebration and Fundraiser for the Ojai Roadrunners

In 2016, the Ojai Roadrunners celebrated our 40th Anniversary!  To commemorate this historic milestone, we hosted a special weekend of exciting events on March 4 & 5 in Ojai, CA featuring 11 Olympians and World Record Holders in Track & Field, over 30 sponsors and 300 adults and kids.  This unprecedented event raised over $25,000 in cash and in-kind donations and helped fund club scholarships, new equipment and general operating costs!  Featured guests included:

• Carl Lewis:  9 Olympic Gold, Former World Record Holder 100 m, 200 m, 400 m Relay, Long Jump.
• Mary Decker Slaney:  Former World Record Holder in Mile, 5000 m, 10,000 m.
• Michael Powell:  Current World Record Holder, Long Jump (Held for 25 years).
• Kevin Young:  Olympic Gold, Current World Record Holder, 400 m Hurdles (Held for 23 years).
• Steve Lewis:  3 Olympic Gold, 1 Silver, 400m and 1600 m Relay.
• Tasha Danvers:  Olympic Bronze Medalist, 400 M Hurdles.Jackie Edwards:  5 time Olympian, Long Jump.

• Richard Slaney:  Olympian Discus Athlete, Britian's Strongest Man Winner, UK Athletic Champion.
• Frances Santin Jones:  7 time All American in the 400 m hurdles and 800 m.  Current 800 m indoor record holder.
• Claudette Groenendaal: Ranked among America’s top 10 in 800m and 1500m.  NCAA Champion at 800m and 1500m.  Set and held Collegiate Record at 800m for 25 years.
• Danny Everett:  Olympic Gold and Bronze, 400 m and 1600 m Relay, Former World Record Holder, 300 m and 400 m and our very own Head Coach of the Ojai Roadrunners!
