See below for a Summary of our Season, list of athletes who earned a Golden Baton,
list of athletes who qualified for the Championships and more!
The 2019 Season of the Ojai Roadrunners marked the 43rd anniversary of our Club. Preparations for the season began in the Fall of 2018, with Board members holding regular planning meetings starting in September. Early registration for the 2019 season began in November, and late registration concluded in February. The 2019 Season of the Roadrunners included a record 125 athletes, 15 coaches and 40 parent volunteers! Our generous sponsors were Venco Power Sweeping, Rumfish & Vino, Medical Arts Pharmacy and Rotary Ojai West. Whitney Hartmann Photography, Stephen Adams Photography, and Holly Roberts of Kadaya Photography served as our Club photographers.
The first week of practice was scheduled to begin on Monday, February 4, but was rescheduled two days later to Wednesday, February 6 due to rain. Much needed rain was the theme for our practices this season, as the Club had to cancel or reschedule an unprecedented 6 days of practice due to inclement weather!
Our Club hosted three home meets on Saturday, March 16 vs. the Moorpark Striders, on Saturday, March 23 vs. the Heritage Valley Blazers, and on Saturday, April 6 vs. the Camarillo Cosmos and Simi Valley Track Club. Our athletes will have also competed in seven away meets vs. the Oxnard Stars, Newbury Park Panthers and Thousand Oaks Flyers, as well as the Co-Conference Invitational on April 13 - 14 at Oxnard H.S., and the League Finals (West) at Fillmore H.S. on April 27, and the Conference Championships on May 4 and Co-Conference Championships on May 11 at Moorpark High School.
The competition season culminated with over 60 athletes earning the Golden Baton, the most ever to earn that award, as well as many of our athletes moving on to compete in the League’s Championship series. (See below for results and achievements). The entire team celebrated an incredible and unprecedented season with our Annual Awards Picnic on Thursday, May 23 at Topa Mountain Winery in Ojai.
We want to thank all of our athletes, Coaches, parents, volunteers, friends and Sponors for supporting our Club during the 2019 season. We had another season of inspiring, developing and promoting athleticism, leadership and love of community through Track & Field for our youth because of you! We hope you will join us for another great season next year!
The Co-Conference Championships were held on Saturday, May 18 at Moorpark H.S.
